Four commercial flights reported seeing drones while preparing to land at Newark Liberty International Airport this weekend.
No evasive maneuvers were necessary as a result of Sunday's drone sightings between 2,000 and 3,000 feet in the air, though one pilot said a device was spotted within 400ft of his wing.
The planes were eight to 13 miles away from the airport when they experienced what has become an increasingly common distraction for pilots.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) says it has received a significant increase in reports of drones flying nearby planes as the devices have become more popular.
The affected flights were a Northwest Airlink, an ExpressJet and two United Airlines flights, according to CBS New York.
One pilot said that a red drone was 400 feet from his left wing.
Sunday's incidents follow similar ones less than two weeks ago at John F Kennedy Airport, when three drones were spotted by commercial flights and two of the planes came within 100 feet of the flying robots.
None of the planes had to take evasive action, though in late May a Shuttle America flight from Washington DC to New York's LaGuardia Airport had to swerve to avoid a drone over Prospect Park in Brooklyn.

The FAA says flying a drone 'anywhere near' an airplane can bring criminal charges and fines up to $25,000.
Some worry that drones could destroy plane engines if pilots are not careful.
The agency is currently drafting guidelines for drone usage, though its current rules for hobbyists with devices such as model airplanes warns them not to fly above 400ft.
Devices are also not supposed to be flown within five miles of airports.
While some have called for JetBlack stricter rules on hobbyists, companies such as Amazon that want to use drones for package delivery have been pressing for rules that allow them to research the technology more easily.
