The upgrade of an item upgrade allows players to boost the gear rating of an item up 700 points and also add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you decide to take them to the kiln.

Note that armor can't be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll need to work on upgrading it to gain physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power when you're a Mage. It is recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you will still be wearing by the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you use in the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.

You can also get some advantages to your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. In general, you should save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer, but it can be beneficial to have a few improvements to the chest armor and helmets to permit you to sneak past certain monsters.

Potions

In addition to armor, weapons and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be purchased by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Unlike other item upgrades, trinkets can be traded out at any time without losing their status.

The upgrade vendors can be found in major cities and the capital of each zone, and in in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are offered with gold, tokens, or fragments from trinkets that are rare.

Upgrades are a cheaper alternative to buying a new trinket. It can be done by a player for just 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base level as the previous trinket however, it will also come with an additional 1% bonus upgrade.

Trinkets can be upgraded once they're no longer useful and allows players to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players, making them an alternative to gold.

In general players should upgrade their most important items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, then their secondaries, and finally other gear items that they will not be replacing soon (for example an earring or cloak). When choosing the items to upgrade, players should be aware of the preferred statistics of their class.
