The coaching programme, organised by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), brings together 25 coaches from across the country and marks a renewed effort to enhance technical capacity in Nigerian football. Ogunmodede’s participation underscores his ambition to not only lead at club level, but to play a broader role in the development of the game nationally.

Editorial

When a coach of the calibre of Daniel Ogunmodede steps into a CAF B-Licence course, it signals more than professional accreditation it signals ambition, evolution and intent. For a man whose tactical identity is often linked to what he terms "Ijaball" style football, this move is less about what he knows now and more about what he intends to deliver in the future.

Nigeria’s football landscape has too often been defined by flashes of talent and structural lapses. In such terrain, the cultivation of coaching competence becomes not a luxury but a necessity. Ogunmodede’s decision to deepen his credentials through the CAF pathway in Abuja is a statement that Nigerian football’s future will depend not only on players, but on the stewards of development.

But alone is not enough. The course is a step not the summit. The question now is how Ogunmodede uses his enhanced training the systems he implements, the youth he nurtures, the consistency he demands. He coaches a club, yes but he is also, by virtue of undertaking this course, a part of the broader narrative of Nigerian football reform.

If Nigeria’s technical infrastructure is to improve, it must start with coaches who challenge status quo, impose discipline, demand excellence and sustain it. The CAF B licence is an enabler Ogunmodede’s challenge is to translate it into impact. From Remo Stars to national structures, his influence could ripple. For now, we observe the next phase with interest.
