MANILA, Jan 16 (Reuters) - The Philippines said on Thursday it expressed its concerns to China about the conduct of its coast guard in the South China Sea during a bilateral meeting, Slot Mahjong but said there was still scope for diplomacy and cooperation between them.

"We firmly believe that despite the unresolved challenges and differences, there is genuine space for diplomatic and pragmatic cooperation in dealing with our issues in the South China Sea," Undersecretary Theresa Lazaro said in her opening remarks to a meeting of their bilateral consultation mechanism, according to a statement.
