Patrick Dangerfield was taken to hospital in an ambulance just after coming from the field in Geelong's loss to Port  on Thursday night, with Cats coach Chris Scott revealing that the star 'couldn't move' after a heavy bump.

Dangerfield copped a knock to his lower back from Dan Houston during a marking contest in the second quarter but managed to see out the rest of the match before being taken for precautionary treatment.

On Friday morning the club confirmed he suffered a broken rib and partially collapsed lung, and will travel back to Melbourne by car after being released from hospital later on Thursday night.

'He got that knock and then he progressively seized up more and more to the point where, he's a warrior, but it didn't look to us like he could move,' Scott said after the game.
