MILAN, Feb 12 (Reuters) - Credit Agricole said on Wednesday it was proposing Hugues Brasseur as the new head of its Italian arm to replace Giampiero Maioli, the long-time chief executive of Credit Agricole Italia who will now become its chairman.
Brasseur is currently director general of the Caisse Regionale de l'Anjou et du Maine at the French group. Between 2012 and 2016 he worked in Italy first as co-general manager and then deputy general manager of Credit Agricole Italia.
Maioli has been CEO of Credit Agricole Italia since 2012, previously Cariparma Credit Agricole, which was born in 2007 when Credit Agricole bought Cariparma and FriulAdria from Intesa Sanpaolo.
Italy is Credit Agricole's biggest market after France, accounting for 18% of group revenue and biuro rachunkowe (https://www.mairie-bassac.fr) 16% of net income in 2024.
With a 15% stake in Banco BPM and partnerships with both Banco BPM and UniCredit, the French bank has become a pivot in UniCredit's hostile takeover bid for BPM.
